Description

This Winter Fruit Salad is a refreshing mix of seasonal fruits, lightly sweetened with a citrus-honey dressing. Juicy oranges, crisp apples, sweet pears, and tart pomegranate arils come together for a vibrant and nutritious dish. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a healthy holiday side!

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Salad:

  • 2 oranges, peeled and segmented
  • 2 apples, cored and diced (Honeycrisp or Fuji work well)
  • 2 pears, cored and diced
  • 1 cup pomegranate arils
  • 1 cup red or green grapes, halved
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries (or fresh if available)
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

For the Citrus Honey Dressing:

  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dressing:
    • In a small bowl, whisk together orange juice, lemon juice, honey, cinnamon, and poppy seeds.
  2. Assemble the Salad:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine oranges, apples, pears, pomegranate arils, grapes, and dried cranberries.
    • Pour the dressing over the fruit and gently toss to coat.
  3. Add Toppings & Serve:
    • Sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts on top if using.
    • Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 4 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

  • To prevent apples and pears from browning, toss them in a little lemon juice before adding to the salad.
  • Swap pecans for almonds or omit nuts for a nut-free version.
  • Serve over yogurt or oatmeal for a heartier breakfast option.
