Scale
- 3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional—walnuts or pecans work well)
- 1/4 cup red and green holiday sprinkles or crushed peppermint (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the pan: Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal. Lightly grease the paper.
- Melt the chocolate: In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and butter. Stir constantly until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Add flavor: Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt. If using nuts, fold them in at this stage.
- Pour and spread: Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan. Use a spatula to smooth the top evenly.
- Decorate: While the fudge is still warm, sprinkle the top with red and green sprinkles or crushed peppermint for a festive touch.
- Chill: Refrigerate the fudge for at least 2 hours, or until firm.
- Cut and serve: Once set, lift the fudge out of the pan using the parchment overhang. Cut into small squares and enjoy!
Notes
- For a peppermint twist, add 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract along with the vanilla.
- Use white chocolate chips for a “snowy” fudge version, or swirl dark and white chocolate together for a marbled effect.
- Store fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week or in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
