Scale
- 1 loaf French bread (or Italian bread)
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a kick)
- 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for extra flavor)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder (for extra depth of flavor)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the garlic butter: In a bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes (if using), Parmesan cheese, olive oil, and garlic powder until well combined.
- Slice the bread: Cut the French bread in half lengthwise. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over both halves.
- Bake: Place the bread on the baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes.
- Broil for crispiness: Switch the oven to broil and cook for another 1-2 minutes until the edges are golden and crispy. Watch closely to avoid burning!
- Serve: Remove from the oven, let it cool for a minute, then slice and serve warm.
Notes
- For extra cheesy garlic bread, sprinkle shredded mozzarella on top before baking.
- Want a stronger garlic flavor? Let the garlic butter mixture sit for 10-15 minutes before spreading it on the bread.
- If using pre-minced jarred garlic, use about 1 ½ teaspoons per clove.
