Description

This Frozen Hot Chocolate is a rich, creamy, and frosty treat that combines the flavors of classic hot chocolate with the refreshing chill of a milkshake. Made with real chocolate, cocoa powder, and blended with ice, this easy recipe is the perfect indulgence for chocolate lovers!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (or dark chocolate)
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup whole milk (plus more for blending)
  • 2 cups ice cubes
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (for whipped topping, optional)
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar (for whipped topping, optional)
  • Chocolate shavings or sprinkles (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  • Melt the chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 20-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.
  • Make the chocolate mixture: Stir in cocoa powder, sugar, and ½ cup warm milk until well combined and smooth. Let it cool for a few minutes.
  • Blend: In a blender, add the cooled chocolate mixture, ice, vanilla extract, and ½ cup cold milk. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  • Make whipped cream (optional): In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  • Serve: Pour the frozen hot chocolate into glasses, top with whipped cream, and garnish with chocolate shavings or sprinkles. Enjoy immediately

Notes

  • For a dairy-free version, use almond, oat, or coconut milk, and replace whipped cream with coconut whipped cream.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less sugar.
  • Use dark chocolate for a richer taste.
  • Add a pinch of cinnamon or espresso powder for extra depth of flavor!
