Description

This simple, smoky, and savory brisket rub brings out the best flavors in any cut of beef. It’s the perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and smoky, creating a delicious crust while keeping the meat juicy and tender. Ideal for smoking, grilling, or roasting brisket!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper (freshly ground)
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

Instructions

  1. Mix the Rub: In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients until well blended.
  2. Prepare the Brisket: Pat your brisket dry with paper towels.
  3. Apply the Rub: Generously coat the brisket on all sides with the rub. Press it in firmly so it sticks.
  4. Rest: Let the brisket rest at room temperature for 30 minutes, or cover and refrigerate overnight for a deeper flavor.
  5. Cook: Smoke, grill, or roast according to your preferred method.

Notes

  • Store leftover rub in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
  • Adjust the cayenne for more or less heat.
  • Works great on other cuts of beef, pork, or even chicken!
