Ingredients
-
4 pork shoulder steaks (about 1 inch thick)
-
2 tablespoons olive oil
-
1 tablespoon garlic powder
-
1 tablespoon onion powder
-
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
-
1 teaspoon salt
-
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
-
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
-
1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
Instructions
-
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F).
-
Pat the pork steaks dry with paper towels.
-
In a small bowl, mix together garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, and cayenne (if using).
-
Rub both sides of the pork steaks with olive oil, then coat with the spice mixture.
-
Place the steaks on the grill and cook for 6–7 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F.
-
During the last 2–3 minutes of cooking, brush both sides of the steaks generously with BBQ sauce.
-
Remove from grill and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
-
For extra tender pork, marinate the steaks in BBQ sauce for a few hours before grilling.
-
These can also be cooked in a grill pan on the stovetop if a grill isn’t available.
-
Serve with classic sides like coleslaw, baked beans, or corn on the cob.
