Description

This Thai Basil Beef is a classic street food dish made with tender beef, aromatic garlic, chilies, and fresh Thai basil. It’s quick, easy, and perfect over steamed rice with a fried egg on top!

Ingredients

Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Beef
  1. If using flank steak, slice thinly against the grain. If using ground beef, keep it ready to cook.
Step 2: Stir-Fry the Aromatics
  1. Heat oil in a wok or skillet over high heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and Thai chilies. Stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Step 3: Cook the Beef
  1. Add the sliced beef (or ground beef) and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned.
  2. Pour in oyster sauce, soy sauce, fish sauce, dark soy sauce, and sugar. Stir well.
  3. If the mixture looks dry, add a splash of water or beef broth.
Step 4: Add Thai Basil
  1. Turn off the heat and toss in the Thai basil leaves. Stir until just wilted.
Step 5: Serve & Enjoy!

Notes

  • No Thai basil? Use regular basil, but Thai basil gives the most authentic flavor.
  • Want it spicier? Add more Thai chilies or a dash of chili flakes.
  • Prefer chicken? Swap beef for ground or sliced chicken.
  • Low-carb? Serve over cauliflower rice or in lettuce wraps.
