Ingredients

Units Scale

1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)

1 small onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup

1/2 cup milk

1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn, green beans)

1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp garlic powder

1 (28 oz) bag frozen tater tots

Instructions

Preheat & Prep:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

2️⃣ Cook the Beef:

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion until browned (about 5-6 minutes).
  • Drain excess grease, then stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.

3️⃣ Mix the Filling:

  • Stir in cream of mushroom soup, milk, frozen vegetables, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Let it simmer for 2 minutes, then spread the mixture evenly in the baking dish.

4️⃣ Assemble the Hotdish:

  • Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the beef mixture.
  • Arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer on top.

5️⃣ Bake:

  • Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes, until the tots are golden and crispy.
  • Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of cheese on top and bake for another 5 minutes, until melted.

6️⃣ Serve & Enjoy!

  • Let it cool for a few minutes, then serve warm.

Notes

  • Swap cream of mushroom for cream of chicken if preferred.
  • Add a dash of Worcestershire sauce for extra flavor.
  • Want it extra crispy? Broil for the last 2-3 minutes!
