Description

These sweet potato fries are crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and full of flavor. They’re baked in the oven with simple seasonings, making them a healthier and delicious side dish or snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into thin fries

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (for extra crispiness)

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • Optional: pinch of cayenne pepper for heat

Instructions

Preheat the oven:

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prep the sweet potatoes:

Cut the sweet potatoes into even, thin strips (about ¼-inch thick). Try to keep the size consistent for even baking.

Toss with oil and seasonings:

In a large bowl, toss the sweet potato fries with olive oil. Sprinkle in cornstarch, salt, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, and cayenne if using. Toss until the fries are evenly coated.

Arrange on baking sheet:

Spread the fries out in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Make sure they’re not overlapping or touching too much — use two baking sheets if needed.

Bake:

Bake for 15–20 minutes, flip the fries, then bake for another 10–15 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Watch closely in the last few minutes to prevent burning.

Serve:

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce like ketchup, chipotle mayo, or ranch.

Notes

  • For extra crisp fries, soak the cut sweet potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes, then dry thoroughly before seasoning.

  • Don’t overcrowd the pan — spacing is key for crispiness.

  • These are best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated in the oven or air fryer.
