For the Dough:
- 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F)
- 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
For Boiling:
- 9 cups water
- 1/2 cup baking soda
For Topping:
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Coarse sea salt, for sprinkling
Instructions
1️⃣ Make the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in salt and sugar. Gradually add flour, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
2️⃣ Let the Dough Rest:
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rest for 10 minutes.
3️⃣ Shape the Pretzel Bites:
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Divide the dough into 6 sections. Roll each section into a long rope, about ½-inch thick.
- Cut each rope into 1-inch pieces.
4️⃣ Boil the Pretzel Bites:
- In a large pot, bring 9 cups of water to a boil. Stir in baking soda.
- Drop the pretzel bites into the boiling water in batches, cooking for 20–30 seconds.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and place on the prepared baking sheet.
5️⃣ Bake the Pretzel Bites:
- Brush each pretzel bite with the beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes or until golden brown.
6️⃣ Serve & Enjoy:
- Let cool slightly, then serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces!

- For extra flavor, brush the pretzels with melted butter right after baking.
- Want a cinnamon-sugar version? Skip the salt, then brush with butter and roll in cinnamon sugar after baking.
