- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- For the Shrimp Marinade:
- 1/2 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- For the Tacos:
- 8 small corn or flour tortillas
- 1/2 cup red cabbage, shredded
- 1/2 cup cotija cheese (or feta)
- 1 avocado, sliced
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 jalapeño, thinly sliced (optional)
- Lime wedges, for serving
- For the Sauce (Optional):
- 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp hot sauce (optional)
Instructions
- Marinate the steak: In a bowl or ziplock bag, mix olive oil, lime juice, garlic, and seasonings. Add the steak, coat well, and marinate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 4 hours for more flavor).
- Marinate the shrimp: In a separate bowl, mix the shrimp marinade ingredients. Toss in the shrimp and let sit for 15–20 minutes.
- Cook the steak: Heat a grill or pan over medium-high heat. Cook the steak for 4–5 minutes per side (or until desired doneness). Let it rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain.
- Cook the shrimp: In the same pan or grill, cook shrimp for 2–3 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
- Prepare the sauce (optional): Mix sour cream, lime juice, garlic powder, and hot sauce in a small bowl.
- Assemble the tacos: Warm the tortillas on a dry pan or grill. Fill each with sliced steak, shrimp, cabbage, cheese, avocado, and cilantro. Drizzle with the sauce and add jalapeños if using.
- Serve and enjoy! Squeeze fresh lime juice over the tacos and dig in.
Notes
- Don’t overcook the steak—medium-rare to medium is best for tenderness.
- Use fresh shrimp for the best flavor. If using frozen, thaw them first.
- Want it spicy? Add more chili powder or top with hot sauce.
- Grilling option: Cook the steak and shrimp on an outdoor grill for a smoky flavor.
