This Saltine Cracker Toffee is the perfect combination of buttery toffee, crisp saltine crackers, and a smooth chocolate topping. It’s ridiculously easy to make with just a few ingredients and is great for gifting, snacking, or serving at holiday gatherings. You won’t be able to stop at just one piece!

- 40 saltine crackers (about 1 sleeve)
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
- 2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet, dark, or milk chocolate)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, for extra flavor)
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (optional, for garnish)
Optional Toppings:
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (pecans, almonds, or walnuts)
- 1/4 cup crushed candy canes (for a peppermint twist)
- 1/4 cup toffee bits
- Sprinkles (for a festive look)
Instructions
Prep the Baking Sheet:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a 9×13-inch baking sheet with parchment paper or foil and lightly grease it.
- Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer, covering the entire sheet.
2. Make the Toffee:
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and brown sugar, stirring continuously.
- Once melted, bring to a boil and let cook for 3-4 minutes until thickened, stirring frequently.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract (if using).
3. Bake & Melt the Chocolate:
- Pour the hot toffee mixture evenly over the saltines, spreading with a spatula.
- Bake for 5 minutes until bubbling.
- Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the top. Let sit for 2-3 minutes, then spread melted chocolate evenly.
4. Add Toppings & Chill:
- Sprinkle with sea salt, nuts, crushed candy canes, or toffee bits while the chocolate is still warm.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until fully set.
5. Break & Serve:
- Once firm, break into pieces and enjoy!

Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 1 week or in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
Make-Ahead: This toffee freezes well! Store in the freezer for up to 3 months.
