Instructions
Activate the Yeast (If Using Active Dry Yeast)
- In a small bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy. (Skip this step if using instant yeast.)
2. Make the Dough
- In a large bowl or stand mixer, combine flour and salt.
- Add the yeast mixture (or warm milk if using instant yeast), melted butter, and egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
3. Knead & Rise
- Knead by hand for 8-10 minutes or in a stand mixer for 5-6 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
4. Prepare the Garlic Butter
- In a small bowl, mix melted butter, minced garlic, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
5. Shape the Rolls
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball.
- Dip each dough ball into the garlic butter mixture and place in a greased 9-inch round or 9×13-inch baking dish. Pour any remaining butter over the top.
- Cover and let rise for 30-45 minutes, until puffy.
6. Bake the Bread
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
7. Brush & Serve
- Brush warm rolls with extra melted butter and sprinkle with fresh rosemary and flaky sea salt if desired.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
