- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1–2 tbsp milk (if needed, for consistency)
Instructions
-
Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
-
Add melted butter, egg, vanilla, and red food coloring. Stir to combine.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture, kneading until a soft dough forms.
-
Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
-
Make the Filling: Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a small bowl.
-
Roll out the dough into a 12×16-inch rectangle on a floured surface. Spread softened butter over the dough and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly.
-
Roll and Cut: Roll the dough tightly from the long edge. Cut into 10–12 equal rolls. Place in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
-
Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 20–25 minutes until lightly golden.
-
Make the Frosting: Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla. Mix until creamy. Add milk if needed.
-
Serve: Spread frosting over warm rolls and enjoy!
Notes
- For extra richness, drizzle melted white chocolate on top.
