Description

These cheesy, buttery, and garlicky biscuits are a perfect copycat of Red Lobster’s famous Cheddar Bay Biscuits. They are soft, flaky, and packed with flavor, making them a great side for seafood, soups, or just as a tasty snack. Plus, they’re super easy to make in under 30 minutes!

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Biscuits:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup whole milk (or buttermilk for extra tenderness)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

For the Garlic Butter Topping:

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven

    • Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients

    • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, garlic powder, salt, onion powder, and sugar.
  • Add Cheese & Wet Ingredients

    • Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
    • Pour in the milk and melted butter, then gently mix until just combined. (Do not overmix; the dough should be sticky.)
  • Form Biscuits

    • Using a spoon or ice cream scoop, drop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake

    • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
  • Make Garlic Butter Topping

    • While the biscuits bake, mix melted butter, garlic powder, and dried parsley in a small bowl.
  • Brush & Serve

    • As soon as the biscuits come out of the oven, brush the garlic butter mixture generously over the tops.
    • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra fluffiness, use cold butter instead of melted butter, cutting it into the flour like a pie dough.
  • Want a spicier kick? Add ½ teaspoon of cayenne pepper for a subtle heat.
  • Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for up to a week.
  • Reheating Tip: Warm in the oven at 350°F for 5 minutes or microwave for 15 seconds.
