Description

These soft and fluffy cottage cheese buns are quick to make and perfect for breakfast or a snack. They have a slightly tangy, cheesy flavor and a light texture, making them a great alternative to traditional bread. No yeast required—just mix, shape, and bake!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup (250g) cottage cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional, for slight sweetness)
  • 1 1/2 cups (180g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup milk (if needed, for consistency)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Mix wet ingredients: In a bowl, combine the cottage cheese, egg, melted butter, and sugar. Stir well.
  • Combine dry ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Form the dough: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms. If it’s too dry, add a little milk.
  • Shape the buns: Divide the dough into 6–8 portions and shape them into round buns. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
  • Cool and enjoy: Let the buns cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • You can add herbs, grated cheese, or garlic powder for extra flavor.
  • These buns taste great warm with butter or jam.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days, or freeze for longer storage.
