Description

A rich and creamy Puerto Rican holiday drink with a chocolate twist! This chocolate-flavored coquito combines coconut, sweet spices, and rum for a festive, decadent treat. Perfect for holiday parties or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 (15 oz) can cream of coconut (such as Coco López)
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 (12 oz) can evaporated milk
  • 1 cup coconut milk (or whole milk)
  • 1/2 cup good-quality cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup dark or spiced rum (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate liqueur (optional, for extra richness)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Whipped cream and grated chocolate for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Blend the ingredients – In a blender, combine cream of coconut, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, coconut milk, cocoa powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and salt. Blend until smooth.
  • Add the alcohol – Pour in the rum and chocolate liqueur (if using) and blend again until well incorporated.
  • Chill – Transfer to a glass bottle or airtight container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight for best flavor).
  • Serve – Shake well before serving, pour into small glasses, and garnish with whipped cream and grated chocolate if desired.

Notes

  • Use Puerto Rican rum like Bacardí or Don Q for an authentic taste.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sweetened condensed milk.
  • For a thicker coquito, let it sit in the fridge overnight.
