Description

Peppermint Snowball Cookies Peppermint Snowball Cookies are buttery, melt-in-your-mouth treats with a festive peppermint twist. Rolled in powdered sugar, they look like little snowballs, making them perfect for holiday cookie platters.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (plus extra for rolling)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup finely crushed peppermint candies or candy canes
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, beat the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in vanilla and peppermint extract.
  • Stir in flour and salt until just combined. Fold in crushed peppermint and nuts (if using).
  • Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheet about 1 inch apart.
  • Bake for 12–14 minutes, until the bottoms are lightly golden. Let cool for 5 minutes.
  • While still warm, roll each cookie in powdered sugar. Let cool completely, then roll again for a thick, snowy coating.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to a week.

Notes

  • For a richer peppermint flavor, add a few drops of peppermint extract to the powdered sugar.
  • If the dough feels too dry, add 1 tablespoon of milk.
  • Try dipping the bottoms in melted chocolate for an extra treat.
