- 1/2 cup crushed candy canes or peppermint candies

- Melt the Dark Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semisweet or dark chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth. (Alternatively, use a double boiler.) Stir in peppermint extract if using.
- Spread the First Layer: Pour the melted chocolate onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it evenly into a thin layer. Place in the fridge for about 15 minutes to set.
- Melt the White Chocolate: In a separate microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth.
- Add the White Chocolate Layer: Pour the melted white chocolate over the hardened dark chocolate and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle with Peppermint: Immediately sprinkle the crushed candy canes on top of the white chocolate layer. Press them in slightly so they stick.
- Chill and Set: Refrigerate for about 30 minutes, or until fully set.
- Break into Pieces: Once firm, break the bark into bite-sized pieces and enjoy!
