- 1/2 cup mayonnaise (or sour cream for a lighter option)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup red or green pepper jelly
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions (for garnish, optional)
- Crackers, tortilla chips, or veggies for serving
Instructions
Cold Version:
- Mix the base: In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, mayonnaise, garlic powder, and black pepper until well combined.
- Assemble: Spread the cheese mixture into a serving dish.
- Add the jelly: Spoon the pepper jelly over the top and gently spread.
- Garnish & serve: Sprinkle with green onions and serve with crackers or chips.
Warm Version:
- Preheat oven: Set to 350°F (175°C).
- Mix the base: In a bowl, combine the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, mayonnaise, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- Bake: Spread into a small baking dish and bake for 15-20 minutes, until bubbly.
- Add jelly: Remove from the oven, spread the pepper jelly on top, and return to the oven for 5 more minutes.
- Serve hot: Garnish with green onions and serve warm with crackers or crostini.
Notes
- Spicy or mild? Choose mild or hot pepper jelly based on your preference.
- Make it ahead: Prepare the dip (without the jelly) up to 2 days in advance and store in the fridge. Add the jelly just before serving.
- Try different cheeses! Smoked gouda or pepper jack add great flavor.
