Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 slices deli ham
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 3/4 cup (90g) breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • 1/2 cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp melted butter (for extra crispiness)
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional, for added flavor)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Prepare the Chicken: Slice each chicken breast in half horizontally (but not all the way through) to create a pocket.
  • Stuff the Chicken: Place 2 slices of ham and 2 slices of Swiss cheese inside each chicken breast. Secure with toothpicks if needed.
  • Prepare the Breading Stations:
    • Bowl 1: Mix flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
    • Bowl 2: Beat the egg with milk and Dijon mustard.
    • Bowl 3: Combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and melted butter.
  • Coat the Chicken:
    • Dredge each stuffed chicken breast in the flour mixture.
    • Dip into the egg mixture.
    • Coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  • Bake: Place the chicken in the prepared baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  • Rest & Serve: Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with a side of Dijon mustard or a creamy sauce.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, broil the chicken for the last 2-3 minutes of baking.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven for best results.
