Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 1/2 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked
- 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
- 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes (with juice)
- 1 cup beef broth (or water)
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
Instructions
- Cook the Beef & Onion – In a large skillet or pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add Garlic & Seasonings – Stir in minced garlic, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1 more minute until fragrant.
- Combine Tomatoes & Broth – Add the diced tomatoes (with juice), tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Cook the Pasta – Stir in the uncooked macaroni, cover, and simmer on low heat for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender.
- Final Touches – Remove from heat and let it sit for 5 minutes. If using, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top and let it melt.
- Serve & Enjoy – Give everything a final stir and serve warm.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add ½ teaspoon of smoked paprika or a pinch of red pepper flakes.
- You can swap ground beef with ground turkey or sausage for a variation.
- If the goulash thickens too much, add a splash of water or broth before serving.
