Description

This Nutella Puff Pastry Star Wreath is an eye-catching, delicious treat that’s perfect for holiday gatherings or special occasions. Made with flaky puff pastry and creamy Nutella, it’s easy to assemble and bakes into a golden, star-shaped delight that’s as fun to pull apart as it is to eat!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 sheets of puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/2 cup Nutella (or any chocolate-hazelnut spread)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll out the puff pastry sheets to ensure they are even in size. Place one sheet on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Spread the Nutella evenly over the first sheet, leaving about ½-inch border around the edges.
  • Place the second puff pastry sheet on top, aligning the edges.
  • Place a small bowl or glass in the center of the pastry to create a guide for the star’s center.
  • Cut the pastry from the edge of the bowl outward into 16 equal strips (like slicing a pizza).
  • Twist each strip 2–3 times to create the star effect. Pinch the ends together if needed to hold the shape.
  • Prepare the egg wash by whisking the egg with milk. Brush the pastry with the egg wash for a golden finish.
  • Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  • Cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.

Notes

  • For an extra festive touch, sprinkle chopped hazelnuts over the Nutella before adding the second pastry sheet.
  • You can substitute Nutella with other spreads like almond butter or cookie butter.
  • Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.
