Description

This Mississippi Sin Quiche takes inspiration from the classic Mississippi Sin Dip, transforming it into a creamy, cheesy, and slightly spicy quiche. With a flaky pie crust, crispy bacon, ham, cheddar cheese, and a hint of spice from green chilies and hot sauce, this dish is an absolute crowd-pleaser!

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Crust (Choose One):

  • 1 store-bought pie crust (or homemade)
  • OR 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough (for a flakier crust)

For the Filling:

  • 6 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream (or half & half)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/2 cup cooked ham, diced
  • 1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1 (4 oz) can diced green chilies (drained)
  • 2 tbsp hot sauce (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

For Topping (Optional):

  • Chopped green onions
  • Extra shredded cheese

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Crust

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and crimp the edges. (If using crescent roll dough, press it into the dish, sealing any seams.)
  3. Blind bake the crust: Line with parchment paper and fill with pie weights or dried beans. Bake for 8-10 minutes, then remove and set aside.

Step 2: Make the Filling

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, and sour cream until smooth.
  2. Stir in cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, ham, bacon, green chilies, hot sauce, and seasonings. Mix until well combined.

Step 3: Assemble & Bake

  1. Pour the filling into the partially baked crust.
  2. Sprinkle a little extra cheese on top.
  3. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the center is set and a knife inserted comes out clean.
  4. Let cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

Step 4: Serve & Enjoy

  • Garnish with green onions and extra cheese if desired.
  • Serve warm with a side of fruit, toast, or a fresh salad!

Notes

  • Make It Spicier: Add diced jalapeños or more hot sauce.
  • Meat Substitutes: Swap ham for cooked sausage or turkey bacon.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in the oven for best results.
