For the Hot Dogs:
- 4 hot dog buns
- 4 beef hot dogs
- 4 slices of bacon
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup refried beans (optional)
Toppings:
- 1/2 cup pico de gallo (tomatoes, onions, cilantro, lime juice)
- 1/2 avocado, diced or mashed
- 1 jalapeño, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup crumbled cotija cheese (or shredded Mexican blend cheese)
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Mexican crema or sour cream
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- Lime wedges, for serving
Instructions
- Wrap the Hot Dogs: Tightly wrap each hot dog with a slice of bacon. Secure with toothpicks if needed.
- Cook the Hot Dogs: Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the bacon-wrapped hot dogs, turning frequently, until the bacon is crispy and fully cooked (about 8-10 minutes).
- Warm the Buns: Toast the buns in the skillet or oven until slightly golden.
- Prepare the Toppings: In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, crema, and hot sauce. Set aside.
- Assemble the Hot Dogs: Spread refried beans on each bun (if using), place a bacon-wrapped hot dog inside, and top with pico de gallo, avocado, jalapeños, cotija cheese, and cilantro.
- Drizzle & Serve: Drizzle with the mayo sauce, squeeze fresh lime juice on top, and enjoy!
Notes
- Swap cotija cheese for queso fresco or shredded cheddar if needed.
- Add pickled jalapeños for extra heat.
- Grill the hot dogs instead of pan-frying for a smoky flavor.
