Description

These Mexican-style hot dog tacos combine grilled hot dogs with soft tortillas, fresh toppings, and bold flavors. They’re a fun fusion of street-style tacos and classic hot dogs—perfect for game day or family meals!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 hot dogs (beef, pork, or chicken)
  • 4 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1/2 cup refried beans (optional, for spreading)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Mexican blend, or cotija)
  • 1/4 cup diced onions
  • 1/4 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 jalapeño, sliced (optional, for spice)
  • 1 avocado, sliced or mashed
  • 1/4 cup Mexican crema or sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons mustard (optional, for a hot dog twist)
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (like Valentina or Cholula)

  • Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

Cook the Hot Dogs

  1. Grill or pan-fry the hot dogs over medium heat until browned and heated through (about 5 minutes).
  2. Optionally, slice the hot dogs in half lengthwise and sear them for extra crispy edges.

2. Warm the Tortillas

  1. Heat the tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 30 seconds per side, or until soft and warm.
  2. If using refried beans, spread a thin layer onto each tortilla.

3. Assemble the Tacos

  1. Place one hot dog in each tortilla.
  2. Top with cheese, diced onions, tomatoes, cilantro, and jalapeños.
  3. Add avocado slices and drizzle with Mexican crema, mustard, and hot sauce.

4. Serve & Enjoy!

  1. Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side for a fresh, zesty kick.

Notes

For extra crunch, add crushed tortilla chips or crispy bacon on top!

Swap regular hot dogs for chorizo or smoked sausages for a deeper flavor.

Make it a “Sonoran-style” hot dog taco by wrapping the hot dog in bacon before cooking.
