Description

This 7 Layer Dip is a classic Mexican-inspired appetizer with layers of refried beans, guacamole, sour cream, salsa, cheese, and more! It’s creamy, flavorful, and best served with crispy tortilla chips for dipping.


Ingredients

  • Layer 1: Refried Beans
  • 1 can (16 oz) refried beans
  • 1 tbsp taco seasoning (or 1/2 tsp each of cumin, chili powder, and garlic powder)
  • Layer 2: Guacamole
  • 2 ripe avocados, mashed
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Layer 3: Sour Cream Mixture
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise (optional, for extra creaminess)
  • 1 tbsp taco seasoning
  • Layer 4: Salsa
  • 1 cup chunky salsa (drain excess liquid)
  • Layer 5: Shredded Cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese (or cheddar & Monterey Jack)
  • Layer 6: Diced Tomatoes
  • 1 cup diced fresh tomatoes
  • Layer 7: Toppings
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/4 cup sliced green onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Bean Layer
  • In a bowl, mix refried beans with taco seasoning.
  • Spread the mixture evenly in the bottom of a 9×13-inch dish or serving bowl.
  • Make the Guacamole Layer
  • Mash avocados with lime juice and salt.
  • Spread evenly over the beans.
  • Mix & Add Sour Cream Layer
  • Combine sour cream, mayo (if using), and taco seasoning.
  • Spread over the guacamole layer.
  • Add Salsa & Cheese
  • Gently spread salsa over the sour cream layer.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly on top.
  • Top with Tomatoes & Toppings
  • Add diced tomatoes, black olives, green onions, and cilantro (if using).
  • Chill & Serve
  • Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving for best flavor.
  • Serve with tortilla chips!

Notes

  • :
  • Use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a lighter version.
  • Drain salsa well to avoid a watery dip.
  • Add cooked ground beef or chorizo for extra protein!
