- For the Dough:
- 3/4 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
- 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- For the Maple Pecan Topping:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- For the Cinnamon Filling:
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Make the Dough:
- In a small bowl, whisk warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Add melted butter, egg, and salt. Stir to combine.
- Gradually mix in the flour, kneading for 5-7 minutes until a smooth dough forms.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Make the Maple Pecan Topping:
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter, brown sugar, and maple syrup.
- Stir in salt and vanilla extract. Let cook for 2 minutes, then pour into a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle chopped pecans evenly over the glaze.
- Assemble the Sticky Buns:
- Roll out the dough into a 12×16-inch rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
- Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll the dough tightly from the long side, then cut into 12 equal rolls.
- Place rolls cut-side down in the prepared baking dish over the pecan topping. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Bake & Serve:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Let cool for 5 minutes, then invert the pan onto a serving platter to let the sticky glaze coat the buns.
