Description

This Lemon Butter Fish Fillet features tender, flaky fish seared to perfection and drizzled with a buttery lemon sauce. Serve it with veggies, rice, or mashed potatoes for a restaurant-quality meal at home!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 fish fillets (tilapia, cod, halibut, or your choice)
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (for a light crust, optional)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Zest of 1/2 lemon
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth (or white wine)
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • Lemon slices, for garnish

Instructions

  • Season the fish: Pat the fillets dry with a paper towel. Season both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Lightly dust with flour for a golden crust (optional).
  • Sear the fillets: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the fish and cook for 3–4 minutes per side (or until golden and flaky). Transfer to a plate.
  • Make the lemon butter sauce: In the same pan, melt butter. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Stir in lemon juice, zest, and chicken broth (or white wine). Simmer for 2 minutes.
  • Combine & serve: Return the fish to the pan and spoon the sauce over it. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and garnish with lemon slices.
  • Enjoy! Serve warm with your favorite side dishes.

Notes

  • Best fish to use: Tilapia, cod, halibut, snapper, or trout all work well.
  • For extra crispiness: Use a light flour or cornstarch coating before frying.
  • Make it creamy: Stir in 2 tbsp of heavy cream for a rich, creamy sauce.
