Description

This King’s Hawaiian Cheesecake Danish takes the soft, sweet, and fluffy bread of King’s Hawaiian rolls and turns it into a delicious, indulgent dessert. Filled with a creamy cheesecake filling and topped with a drizzle of sweet glaze, it’s the perfect treat for breakfast, brunch, or a snack!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • :
  • For the Danish:
  • 1 package (12 rolls) King’s Hawaiian Original Sweet Rolls
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • For the Glaze:
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • :
  • Prepare the Danish Base: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Arrange the King’s Hawaiian rolls in the dish, keeping them close together in a single layer.
  • Make the Cheesecake Filling: In a medium mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, egg yolk, sour cream, and flour until smooth and creamy.
  • Assemble the Danish: Use a spoon to evenly spread the cheesecake filling over the top of each roll. Spread it gently to cover the center of each roll while keeping the edges intact.
  • Bake the Danish: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the rolls are golden and the cheesecake filling is set.
  • Make the Glaze: While the Danish is baking, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth and the glaze has a drizzly consistency.
  • Finish the Danish: Once the Danish is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Drizzle the glaze over the top of the warm Danish, allowing it to soak in and add sweetness.
  • Serve: Slice and serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy!

Notes

  • :
  • You can add fresh fruit on top, like berries or sliced strawberries, for added freshness and color.
  • If you prefer a stronger flavor, try adding a teaspoon of lemon zest or almond extract to the cheesecake filling.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the fridge and reheated for a delicious treat the next day!
