- 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tablespoons corn syrup
- 1 tablespoon unflavored gelatin
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the mixture – In a saucepan, combine water, corn syrup, and unflavored gelatin. Let it sit for 5 minutes to bloom.
- Heat the mixture – Place the saucepan over low heat, stirring until the gelatin dissolves completely.
- Add Jello and sugar – Stir in the flavored Jello and ¾ cup of granulated sugar. Continue heating and stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved.
- Pour into molds – Lightly grease silicone candy molds or a lined baking dish. Pour the mixture into the molds or spread evenly in the dish.
- Set and cool – Let the candy sit at room temperature for 2-3 hours, or until firm. If using a baking dish, cut into small squares once set.
- Coat with sugar – Toss candy pieces in the remaining ¼ cup of granulated sugar or powdered sugar to prevent sticking.
- Store – Keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
Notes
- Use different Jello flavors for a variety of colors and tastes.
- For a sour version, mix in citric acid with the sugar coating.
- Store in a cool, dry place to avoid stickiness.
