Description

This Instant Pot Brown Jasmine Rice is perfectly fluffy, nutty, and slightly chewy, all made with ease in a pressure cooker! It’s a healthy and delicious side dish that pairs well with stir-fries, curries, or roasted vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups brown jasmine rice
  • 2 1/2 cups water or broth (for extra flavor)
  • 1/2 tsp salt (optional)

  • 1 tsp olive oil or butter (optional, for extra richness)

Instructions

Rinse the Rice:

  • Rinse brown jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch and prevents stickiness.

2. Add Ingredients to the Instant Pot:

  • In the Instant Pot, add rinsed rice, water (or broth), salt, and oil/butter.
  • Stir gently to distribute ingredients evenly.

3. Pressure Cook the Rice:

  • Close the lid and set the valve to “Sealing.”
  • Select Pressure Cook (Manual) mode and set the time to 22 minutes on High Pressure.
  • Once cooking is done, allow a 10-minute natural release, then manually release any remaining pressure.

4. Fluff & Serve:

  • Open the lid carefully and fluff the rice with a fork.
  • Serve warm as a side dish or use in meal prep!

Notes

  • For softer rice: Add ¼ cup more water and increase cook time to 24 minutes.
  • For firmer rice: Reduce water to 2 ¼ cups and cook for 20 minutes.
  • Want extra flavor? Cook with vegetable or chicken broth instead of water.

  • Make it a meal: Add sautéed veggies, herbs, or mix in proteins like grilled chicken or tofu.
