This Hot Fudge Chocolate Pudding Cake is a chocolate lover’s dream! A rich, moist chocolate cake magically transforms into a warm, fudgy pudding with a luscious chocolate sauce underneath. It’s easy to make and perfect served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

For the Cake Batter:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Fudge Sauce:
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/4 cups boiling water
Instructions
- Preheat & Prepare:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Lightly grease an 8×8-inch (or similar-sized) baking dish.
- Make the Cake Batter:
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- Prepare the Fudge Sauce:
- In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cocoa powder.
- Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the cake batter.
- Slowly pour the boiling water over the top (do NOT stir).
- Bake the Cake:
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the top looks set but the cake is still gooey underneath.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes before serving.
- Serve & Enjoy:
- Scoop the cake into bowls, making sure to get plenty of the fudgy sauce from the bottom.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
- The magic happens in the oven—the cake rises to the top while the rich fudge sauce forms underneath!
- For extra decadence, sprinkle chocolate chips or chopped nuts on top before baking.
