Description

This Honey Garlic Shrimp is a quick and flavorful dish perfect for busy weeknights. Juicy shrimp are coated in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce, then pan-seared to perfection. Ready in just 20 minutes, this dish pairs well with rice, noodles, or steamed vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice or rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  • Make the sauce – In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, red pepper flakes, and lemon juice. Set aside.
  • Marinate the shrimp – Add the shrimp to a bowl and pour half of the sauce over them. Let them marinate for about 10–15 minutes.
  • Cook the shrimp – Heat olive oil and butter in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 1–2 minutes per side, until they turn pink and opaque.
  • Add the sauce – Pour in the remaining sauce and let it simmer for another 1–2 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.
  • Garnish & serve – Remove from heat, sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds, and serve immediately with rice or noodles.

Notes

  • Use fresh or frozen shrimp, but make sure they are thawed and patted dry before cooking.
  • Want it spicy? Add more red pepper flakes or a dash of sriracha.
  • For extra thickness, mix 1 teaspoon cornstarch with 1 tablespoon water and stir it in while cooking the sauce.
