For the Steak:
- 1 lb ribeye or sirloin steak (thinly sliced)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
For the Caramelized Onions:
- 1 large onion (thinly sliced)
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp sugar (optional)
- 1/2 tsp salt
For the Sandwich:
- 4 sandwich rolls (ciabatta, hoagie, or brioche)
- 4 slices provolone or Swiss cheese
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Prepare the Onions:
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add butter and sliced onions.
- Cook, stirring occasionally, until onions are golden brown (about 15-20 minutes).
- Add sugar (if using) and salt. Stir and set aside.

Cook the Steak:
- Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over high heat.
- Add steak slices, season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Sear for 2-3 minutes.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce and cook until steak is browned but still tender. Remove from heat.

Toast the Rolls:
- Slice sandwich rolls in half and toast them in the same skillet until golden brown.

- Spread mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and garlic powder mixture on each roll.
- Layer the cooked steak, caramelized onions, and cheese.
- Place sandwiches under a broiler for 1-2 minutes to melt the cheese.
