Description

Heart OREO Balls are delightful, no-bake treats made from crushed OREO cookies and cream cheese, shaped into hearts, and coated with chocolate. They’re perfect for Valentine’s Day or any occasion that calls for a sweet, heart-shaped dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

  • 36 OREO cookies (regular or Golden)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 16 ounces chocolate (white, milk, or dark, depending on your preference)
  • Optional decorations: sprinkles, colored sugar, or additional melted chocolate for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Prepare the OREO Mixture:
    • Place the OREO cookies (including the filling) in a food processor and pulse until they become fine crumbs.
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the OREO crumbs with the softened cream cheese. Mix until thoroughly combined, forming a dough-like consistency.
  2. Shape into Hearts:
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • Transfer the OREO mixture onto the parchment paper and press it into an even layer, approximately ½ inch thick.
    • Place the baking sheet in the freezer for about 20-30 minutes, or until the mixture is firm enough to cut.
    • Using a heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out heart shapes from the chilled mixture.
    • Gather any leftover scraps, reshape, and repeat the process until all the mixture is used.
  3. Coat with Chocolate:
    • Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 30-second intervals and stirring between each until smooth.
    • Dip each heart-shaped truffle into the melted chocolate, ensuring it’s fully coated. Use a fork to lift the truffle out, allowing any excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl.
    • Place the coated truffles back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet. If desired, decorate with sprinkles or drizzle with additional melted chocolate.
  4. Set and Serve:
    • Allow the chocolate coating to set completely. You can speed up this process by placing the truffles in the refrigerator for about 10-15 minutes.
    • Once set, transfer the truffles to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Notes

  • For a colorful twist, consider using colored melting wafers or adding food coloring to white chocolate to match the occasion.
  • These truffles can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week or frozen for longer storage.
