Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Hamburger Gravy:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (or whole milk)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)

For the Garlic Chive Noodles:

  • 12 oz egg noodles
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh chives, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

Make the Hamburger Gravy:

  1. Brown the Beef – In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Sauté Aromatics – Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until soft and fragrant, about 2–3 minutes.
  3. Make the Roux – Stir in butter until melted, then sprinkle in the flour. Cook for 1–2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the mixture turns golden.
  4. Add Liquids – Gradually whisk in beef broth, stirring to prevent lumps. Let the mixture simmer until slightly thickened.
  5. Finish the Gravy – Stir in heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Let it simmer for 3–5 minutes until creamy. Adjust seasoning as needed.

Prepare the Garlic Chive Noodles:

  1. Cook the Noodles – Boil egg noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Sauté the Garlic – In a large pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Toss the Noodles – Add cooked noodles to the pan, tossing to coat in the garlic butter. Stir in chopped chives, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Serve – Spoon the hamburger gravy over the garlic chive noodles and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a thicker gravy, let it simmer longer or add a cornstarch slurry (1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water).
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • Add a splash of soy sauce for extra depth of flavor.

  • Garnish with extra chives or a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese for a finishing touch.
