Description

These brownies combine the bold taste of Guinness stout with rich chocolate, creating a moist, decadent dessert perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Units Scale
For the Brownies:
  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup (75g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) Guinness stout beer
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional Topping:

  • 1/2 cup (85g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.
  2. Prepare the Batter:

    • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
    • In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter, Guinness stout, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
    • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
  3. Bake the Brownies:

    • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
    • Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top if using.
    • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  4. Cool & Serve:

    • Let the brownies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
    • Once cooled, lift them out using the parchment paper and cut into squares.

Notes

Enhancing Flavor: For a stronger Guinness flavor, simmer the beer over medium heat until it reduces by half, then let it cool before adding to the batter.

Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

Variations: Add a swirl of cream cheese or drizzle with salted caramel before baking for extra indulgence.
