Description

Sautéed mushrooms in a buttery garlic sauce, topped with parmesan for the perfect side dish or appetizer!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 lb mushrooms (baby bella, cremini, or white), cleaned and halved
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme (or 1 tsp fresh thyme)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Instructions

  • Heat oil & butter – In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat the olive oil and butter until melted.
  • Sauté mushrooms – Add mushrooms and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and tender.
  • Add garlic & seasonings – Stir in the minced garlic, salt, pepper, thyme, and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Finish with Parmesan – Sprinkle grated Parmesan over the mushrooms and toss to coat. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until cheese melts slightly.
  • Garnish & serve – Remove from heat, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra richness: Add a splash of heavy cream at the end for a creamy sauce.
  • Want crispier mushrooms? Cook them undisturbed for a few minutes before stirring.
  • Great for: Serving with steak, chicken, or pasta!
