Description

These soft, buttery garlic knots are the perfect side dish for any Italian meal. Made from simple pizza dough, they’re brushed with a flavorful garlic-butter mixture and sprinkled with fresh herbs for an irresistible, savory bite.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Dough:

  • 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • All-purpose flour (for dusting)

For the Garlic Butter:

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (finely chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for a bit of heat)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Dough:
Lightly flour your work surface. Roll the pizza dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Cut the dough into 12 equal strips.
  3. Shape the Knots:
Take each strip, tie it into a simple knot, and tuck the ends underneath. Place the knots on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between them.
  4. Bake:
Bake the knots for 12–15 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Make the Garlic Butter:
While the knots are baking, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, and red pepper flakes (if using) in a small bowl.
  6. Brush with Garlic Butter:
As soon as the knots come out of the oven, brush them generously with the garlic butter mixture. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan if desired.
  7. Serve:
Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping, if you like.

Notes

  • Dough Tip: You can use homemade or store-bought pizza dough for convenience.
  • Extra Garlic Flavor: For a stronger garlic flavor, add a little garlic powder to the butter mixture.
  • Make Ahead: Prepare the knots ahead of time and reheat in the oven for a few minutes before serving.
