Description

Flaky crescent roll dough wrapped around tender roast beef, melty cheese, and baked to golden perfection. Served with a warm au jus for dipping, these pinwheels are an irresistible appetizer or snack!

Ingredients

For the Pinwheels:
  • 1 (8 oz) can refrigerated crescent roll dough

  • 1/2 lb deli roast beef, thinly sliced

  • 1 cup shredded Swiss or provolone cheese

  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional, for extra flavor)

  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp dried parsley

For the Au Jus:
  • 1 cup beef broth

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1/2 tsp soy sauce

  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/4 tsp onion powder

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Prepare the dough: Roll out the crescent dough on a lightly floured surface, pressing the seams together to form a single sheet.

  • Assemble the pinwheels: Spread Dijon mustard (if using) over the dough, then layer with roast beef and shredded cheese.

  • Roll & slice: Tightly roll up the dough from the long side into a log. Slice into 1-inch rounds and place them cut side up on the prepared baking sheet.

  • Brush & bake: Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder and dried parsley. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown.

  • Make the au jus: While the pinwheels bake, heat the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder in a small saucepan over medium heat until warm.

  • Serve: Let the pinwheels cool for a few minutes, then serve warm with au jus for dipping!

Notes

  • For a crispy bottom, bake on a greased or parchment-lined cast iron skillet instead of a baking sheet.

  • Swap Swiss or provolone for mozzarella or cheddar for a different flavor.

  • If using crescent dough sheets, you won’t need to press seams together.
