Description

This Fireside Cheese Spread is a warm, rich, and smoky appetizer that’s perfect for gatherings around the fire. Made with a blend of cheeses, smoky seasonings, and a touch of heat, this spread pairs beautifully with toasted bread, crackers, or fresh veggies. Serve it warm or chilled for a deliciously creamy bite!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded smoked gouda (or smoked cheddar)
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions (for garnish)
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  • Mix the Cheese Base:
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, smoked gouda, and mayonnaise until smooth.
  • Add the Seasonings:
  • Stir in Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, cayenne (if using), salt, and black pepper.
  • Chill or Warm It Up:
  • For a chilled spread: Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to let the flavors meld.
  • For a warm dip: Transfer the mixture to an oven-safe dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–15 minutes, until warm and bubbly.
  • Garnish & Serve:
  • Sprinkle with chopped green onions and nuts (if using).
  • Serve with crackers, toasted bread, or fresh vegetables.

Notes

  • Swap out smoked gouda for regular gouda or Monterey Jack if you prefer a milder flavor.
  • Add crispy bacon crumbles for extra smokiness!
  • This spread can be made up to 2 days in advance and stored in the fridge.
  • Leftovers? Use it as a sandwich spread or melt it into scrambled eggs!
