- For the Cupcakes:
- 1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk
- For the Frosting:
- 1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3 cups (360g) powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp heavy cream (or milk)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Red and green sprinkles (for decorating)
Instructions
- Preheat & Prep: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake tin with paper liners.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- Cream Butter & Sugar: In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (about 2 minutes).
- Add Eggs & Vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
- Combine Wet & Dry: Add the dry ingredients in two batches, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
- Bake: Divide the batter evenly into the cupcake liners, filling each about ⅔ full. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool completely before frosting.
- Make Frosting: Beat the butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar gradually, then mix in heavy cream, vanilla, and salt. Beat until fluffy.
- Decorate: Pipe or spread the frosting onto the cooled cupcakes and top with festive sprinkles.
Notes
- You can add a few drops of red or green food coloring to the frosting for extra holiday cheer!
