A fair-favorite treat made of light, crispy fried dough sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. Perfect for a sweet snack!

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- For the Topping:
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
- 1. Make the Dough:
- In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add warm milk, melted butter, and vanilla. Stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 2-3 minutes, until smooth.
- Cover and let rest for 15 minutes.
- 2. Shape & Fry the Dough:
- 5. Heat 2 inches of oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- 6. Divide dough into 6-8 pieces and roll each into a thin circle.
- 7. Fry one at a time for 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown.
- 8. Drain on paper towels.
- 3. Coat with Cinnamon Sugar:
- 9. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish.
- 10. While warm, coat each fried dough in the mixture.
- 4. Serve & Enjoy!
- 11. Serve warm with honey, chocolate sauce, or whipped cream.
Notes
- No rolling pin? Just stretch the dough with your hands.
- For extra crispiness, roll dough very thin before frying.
- Baked Option: Brush with butter and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 8-10 minutes.
