Description

This Crockpot Orange Chicken is a sweet, tangy, and slightly savory dish that’s incredibly easy to make. Tender chicken is slow-cooked in a delicious orange glaze, creating a perfect meal to serve over rice or noodles. No frying required!


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 1 cup orange marmalade
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (honey or sweet-style works best)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (for thickening, optional)
  • Sesame seeds & sliced green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Chicken:
  • Lightly season chicken with salt and pepper.
  • Place chicken pieces in the slow cooker.
  • Make the Sauce:
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together orange marmalade, BBQ sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic powder, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
  • Slow Cook:
  • Pour the sauce over the chicken and stir to coat.
  • Cover and cook on low for 4–5 hours or high for 2–3 hours, until the chicken is tender.
  • Thicken the Sauce (Optional):
  • If you want a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl.
  • Stir it into the crockpot during the last 20 minutes of cooking and let it thicken.
  • Serve & Garnish:
  • Serve over rice or noodles.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Notes

  • For extra texture, you can brown the chicken in a pan before adding it to the crockpot.
  • Swap orange marmalade for fresh orange juice + honey for a more natural sweetness.
