Ingredients
-
1 lb ground beef
-
1 packet taco seasoning
-
3/4 cup water
-
1 head iceberg lettuce, chopped
-
1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
-
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
-
1 can (15 oz) kidney beans or black beans, drained and rinsed
-
1/2 cup diced red onion
-
1 cup crushed Nacho Cheese Doritos
-
1/2 cup Catalina or French dressing
-
Optional toppings: sour cream, sliced jalapeños, avocado, green onions
Instructions
-
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess grease.
-
Add taco seasoning and water to the beef. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
-
In a large salad bowl, combine chopped lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, beans, and red onion.
-
Add the warm taco meat to the salad.
-
Drizzle with Catalina or French dressing and toss to combine.
-
Just before serving, stir in the crushed Doritos for maximum crunch.
-
Top with your favorite extras like sour cream or avocado, if using. Serve immediately.
Notes
-
For extra flavor, chill the salad for 10–15 minutes before adding Doritos.
-
Swap out ground beef for ground turkey or meatless crumbles for a lighter option.
-
This salad doesn’t store well after mixing, so if making ahead, keep ingredients separate and assemble just before eating.
