Description

These Crock Pot Sloppy Joes are a no-fuss, crowd-pleasing meal! Made with seasoned ground beef (or turkey), a rich and tangy homemade sauce, and slow-cooked to perfection, this recipe makes the best Sloppy Joes with minimal effort. Perfect for busy weeknights, game days, or potlucks!


Ingredients

For the Sloppy Joes:

2 lbs ground beef (or ground turkey)

1 small onion, finely chopped

1/2 small green bell pepper, finely chopped (optional)

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup ketchup

1/4 cup tomato paste

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon yellow mustard

1 tablespoon brown sugar (or honey)

1 teaspoon chili powder (optional, for a little kick)

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 cup water or beef broth

For Serving:

6 hamburger buns

Pickles or coleslaw (optional, for topping)


Instructions

  • Brown the Meat:

    • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned (5–7 minutes).
    • Drain excess fat.
  • Add to the Crock Pot:

    • Transfer the browned beef to a slow cooker.
    • Stir in onion, bell pepper, garlic, ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, brown sugar, chili powder, salt, black pepper, and water (or broth).
  • Slow Cook:

    • Cover and cook on LOW for 4–6 hours or HIGH for 2–3 hours.
    • Stir occasionally.

 

  • Serve & Enjoy:

    • Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto toasted hamburger buns.
    • Top with pickles, cheese, or coleslaw if desired.
