Description

Easy Bruschetta is a fresh and flavorful appetizer made with juicy tomatoes, garlic, basil, and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar, all served on crispy toasted baguette slices. It’s the perfect snack for summer gatherings or a light starter before dinner!

Ingredients

Units Scale

  • 1 loaf French baguette (sliced into 1/2-inch pieces)
  • 3 large ripe tomatoes (diced)
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)

Instructions

Toast the baguette: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush both sides with a little olive oil. Toast in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Alternatively, you can toast the bread in a skillet over medium heat.

Prepare the topping: In a bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped basil, minced garlic, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine. Taste and adjust seasoning, adding more salt, pepper, or vinegar if needed.

Assemble: Spoon the tomato mixture onto the toasted baguette slices just before serving.

Serve: Optionally, sprinkle with a pinch of dried oregano or a drizzle of extra balsamic vinegar for extra flavor

Notes

  • For a more authentic touch, use heirloom or cherry tomatoes.
  • If you prefer a softer texture, rub the toasted bread with a cut garlic clove before adding the topping.
  • You can make the tomato topping ahead of time and store it in the fridge for up to 2 hours before serving.
