Ingredients
Units
Scale
- 1 box brownie mix (plus ingredients needed to prepare, typically eggs, oil, and water)
- 4 oz (1/2 block) cream cheese, softened
- 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips (for coating)
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable oil (optional, for smoother chocolate coating)
- Sprinkles, crushed nuts, or cocoa powder (optional, for decoration)
Instructions
- Bake the brownies according to the package instructions. Let them cool completely.
- Once cooled, crumble the brownies into a large bowl, removing any overly crispy edges if desired.
- Add the softened cream cheese to the crumbled brownies. Use your hands or a spoon to mix until a sticky, uniform dough forms.
- Roll the mixture into small balls, about 1-inch in diameter. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Freeze the truffle balls for 20–30 minutes to firm up, making them easier to coat in chocolate.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips with the coconut oil (if using) in 30-second intervals, stirring between each until smooth.
- Dip each truffle into the melted chocolate, using a fork to let the excess chocolate drip off.
- Place the coated truffles back on the parchment-lined sheet and immediately decorate with sprinkles, nuts, or a dusting of cocoa powder if desired.
- Chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is set.
Notes
- Swap the cream cheese with Nutella or peanut butter for a flavor twist.
- Use white chocolate or drizzle contrasting chocolate over the truffles for a decorative touch.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze for longer storage.
