Description

This easy apple crisp is the perfect fall dessert, featuring tender, cinnamon-spiced apples with a buttery, crunchy oat topping. It’s simple to make and pairs perfectly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream!

Ingredients

For the Apple Filling:

  • 6 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji), peeled, cored, and sliced

  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

For the Crisp Topping:

  • 3/4 cup old-fashioned oats

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven – Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×9-inch (or similar-sized) baking dish.

  • Prepare the Apples – In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, vanilla, and flour. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish.

  • Make the Topping – In another bowl, mix the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Pour in the melted butter and stir until the mixture becomes crumbly.

  • Assemble & Bake – Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the apples are soft and bubbling and the topping is golden brown.

  • Cool & Serve – Let the crisp cool for about 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm with ice cream or whipped cream!

Notes

  • For a nuttier crunch, add ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts to the topping.

  • If you prefer a less sweet crisp, reduce the sugar in the apple filling to ¼ cup.

  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days and reheated in the microwave or oven.
